Today we had a great interview with Jason Ellis and crew. All in all it went very well. I think the biggest concerns were over whether a Judge could remember all the buttons on the controller – which is actually just two joysticks – and if they could keep up with the fight. All of these concerns have proven to not be concerns in our extensive testing with varied age groups of Judges – from 21 to 68.
Lastly, as always, we want to say this is not a computer judging the fight, but human judges who now have a tool that accurately reflects the Unified MMA rules. This will help eliminate bias and provide numerous benefits to the promoters, fans, fighters, and the judges.
Once again, we want to thank The Jason Ellis show for allowing us the opportunity to speak about our system.

With everyone asking and my own staff pondering the fate of the UFC 104 main event, we had to score the fight to see how MMA JACS 5000 could/would/will change the outcome. Many fans have expressed outrage with the outcome of the Machida – Rua fight, including UFC President Dana White where he stated that you can’t leave it in the hands of the Judges. This is where MMA JACS 5000 disagrees – you CAN leave it in the hands of the judges if and ONLY if the exsting rules are being applied correctly, subjectivity is removed (as much as possible), and a measurable / repeatable tool is given to the judges to base their decisions on. This is where MMA JACS 5000 comes in.
At our last event we attended, King of the Cage: Riptide in Ocean Shores, WA (great fights by the way if you didn’t make it), we observed several judges making grids on the back of their score cards and they were writing down tick marks for the fighters in the following categories: strikes, grappling, submissions, and aggression. The biggest problem was several times the judge was looking down when an incredible moment happened in the cage! I actually had a judge ask me, what just happened? Why did the crowd react? With MMA JACS 5000, there is no looking down!
So, sales pitch aside, what did we score for UFC 104? Read more…

So in our never ending quest to get MMA JACS 5000 adopted by the many state athletic commissions, we have made a MAJOR revision to our software.
We are very please to announce a new 10 point must mode. Essentially, the system remains unchanged in that a human judge still inputs the fighters movements, they are still calculated using the MMA JACS 5000 algorithm, but based on that calculation, we determine the appropriate 10 point score for each fighter. So all in all, this was an amazing set of fights. We got to use the full blown, fully portable system, and everything functioned like a dream. The fights were amazing with only one going to a decision. MMA JACS 5000 performed flawlessly. The one thing we did learn was that maybe we might implement a new mode that more closely models the existing unified MMA rules, i.e. it will still use the MMA JACS 5000 algorythm but apply it to the 10 point must system. We feel this might be the best way to get it adopted by the athletic commissions. This would be a phased approach. What do you think?
Once again, we would like to thank West Coast Fight Club and Fight Night Entertainment for allowing us to attend this awesome event!

Any sport that requires judging is going to run into trouble sooner or later. MMA has. Humans are flawed. No doubt, it’s a totally legitimate feeling to be utterly dumbfounded when one judge scores a bout 30-27 for one guy, and a different judge scores it 29-28 for the other guy.
Let’s face it: in the world of MMA, judging is arcane, in part because it is a vastly more complex, multi-linear and dynamic sport than awarding ten or less points reflects. The result of judges’ scoring is published during most televised events, but no rationalization or simple breakdown is provided during the fight or afterwards.
